BEYOND THE PH.D.

Despite being in the very early stages of drafting his dissertation, Mitch hopes to defend his dissertation in April 2026.

One goal that Mitch would like to achieve through his doctoral research is to promote authentic and realistic conversations regarding the state of traditional K-12 in Saskatchewan.

Based on his experiences both as a teacher and administrator, he believes that there are larger concerns that ought to be examined and his dissertation will provide a unique opportunity to do so.

Mitch’s dissertation will add to larger academic discourse regarding chronic student absenteeism and provide other researchers with new avenues to explore student success for all students.

On a personal note, Mitch hopes that his dissertation will open up future opportunities to conduct meaningful research in education. While he enjoys his educational leadership role as an administrator, he does hope to eventually transition full time to post-secondary education work.
